Planners have given permission for an extension to the Analog Devices campus at the Raheen Industrial Estate
PLANNERS have cleared the way for a redevelopment at the Analog Devices campus in Raheen.
The semi-conductor manufacturing company plans to invest €630m in a research facility.
The move will lead to the addition of hundreds of new jobs at the company, which is already one of Limerick’s biggest employers with 1,300 staff members.
Analog had secured permission to regenerate its building and carry out some extra works from Limerick City and County Council back in October 2023.

However, a number of landowners around the site appealed against this decision to An Bord Pleanala.
The national planning appeals body ruled in favour of the Massachusetts based firm last month.
In communication with An Bord Pleanala, Analog Devices management stated the extension is to allow office space on its campus in Raheen.
This will support innovation and research in the technical sector.
The company stated that around 470 staff will be accommodated in the new building, half of whom will be new hires.
There were two appeals against the decision from Limerick Council to green-light the development, although only one of these was deemed valid by An Bord Pleanala.
Among other things, the valid appeal raised concerns over foul water discharging through the storm water system into the neighbouring Loughmore Canal, due to a misconnection in the drainage network, An Bord Pleanala’s report stated.
For its part, Analog stated its proposed development “will not exacerbate” flooding in Loughmore.
This position was backed by
An Bord Pleanala’s inspector, who recommended the project go ahead.
The board agreed with this.
