A LIMERICK hotel has played host to Rotary club members from all around the country for the first time in the city’s history.

Rotarians from across Ireland descended on the Greenhills Hotel on the city’s northside as the group’s district council met outside Dublin for the first time.

The event was sponsored by Unio Wealth Management, which has a Limerick office in the Red Church building at Henry Street in the city centre.

The day was filled with discussions, networking and celebrating Rotary’s core mission, which is ‘service above self’.

Normally, the Rotary District Council’s annual meeting takes place in Dublin.

But this year, the Limerick-Shannon Rotary Club had the honour of welcoming its colleagues from around the country.

Limerick-Shannon Rotary Club chairperson Noreen Stokes-O’Mara said: “We are absolutely delighted to host the Rotary District Council in Limerick for the first time. It’s a real privilege to welcome our fellow Rotarians to our city and provide them with an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and share ideas.”

“We are proud of our city, and it’s exciting to see it play such a significant role in the broader Rotary network. This event is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our club members, and we hope it serves as a springboard for even greater community impact in the future.”

Among the attendees was Rotary Ireland’s district governor Seamus Parle.

“It’s an exciting moment for all of us to be in Limerick for this first-time gathering. While this event is typically held in Dublin, Limerick has proven to be a wonderful host. The energy and enthusiasm from the local community has been incredible, and it’s inspiring to see how the Rotary movement is thriving here," he said.

With more than 1.2 million members across the world, the Rotary Club exists to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance understanding, goodwill, and peace through the fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

The Limerick-Shannon Rotary Club meets up at 1pm every Monday at The Greenhills Hotel, Ennis Road.
