DAWN Meats with headquarters in Waterford and a large facility in Charleville, on the Limerick Cork border, have secured a €125 million contract with ALDI, which will see it recruit 15 new staff members and expand their production facility.

The contract is worth €25 million annually for the next five years.

Dawn Meats says it will be adding six new lines to the ALDI range and increasing its supply to ALDI by 35%.

The company has supplied ALDI since 2010 and is one of the retailer’s longest standing suppliers.

It has a beef abattoir and processing plant in Charleville, which is one of eleven sites across Ireland.

The retailer, which has a strong presence in Limerick, recently announced its intention to invest €400 million in thirty new stores - which would see the creation of 1,000 new jobs over the next five years.

Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue said: “This €125 million announcement with Dawn Meats is an indication of the scale of ALDI’s commitment to the Irish beef sector and is an endorsement of the quality of beef produced by Irish farmers every day.”

Colin Breslin, Managing Director of Buying and Services, ALDI said: “We are delighted to extend our relationship with Dawn Meats, a company that shares our commitment to quality and sustainability.”
