Limerick 'local hero' gets shortlisted in annual digital awards

A LOCAL ‘hero’ has been shortlisted for a digital development award, now in its third annual year. 

The awards, run by .IE, the national registry for .ie website names, has announced that a local hero from Limerick has been shortlisted for this year’s .IE Digital Town Awards, which rewards digital projects created by local communities. 

Maeve McGrath, Limerick, was shortlisted in the Local Hero category for her work on the Audio Charged project, which is a series of digitally recorded interviews between Limerick’s newest and oldest residents. 

A prize fund of €100,000 which is split across the 10 categories. Winners will be announced at a Gala Awards event on Wednesday, May 24.

Chair of the .IE Digital Town Awards 2023 judging committee, Joan Mulvihill, said: “The calibre of entries we received for this years’ awards has been astounding.

“We were blown away by the wealth of stories and commend each and every entrant who took the time to complete an application.  

“The digital future looks incredibly bright when we look at adoption of digital technology to solve everyday problems in towns and communities across the country.”
