A status red wind warning has been issued for Limerick
MET Éireann has upgraded its weather warning for Limerick ahead of the arrival of Storm Debi in the early hours of Monday morning.
A status orange wind warning has been due to coming to effect at 2am but that has now been upgraded to a status red weather warning.
"Extremely gusty on Sunday night and early Monday due to Storm Debi with potential danger to life," states the updated warning which will remain in place until 5am.
Red warnings have also been issued for 13 other counties, including Clare.
According to Met Éireann, the possible impacts during the status red warning include damage to exposed and vulnerable structures, disruption to services and transport, significant power outages and fallen trees/branches.

Limerick City and County Council convened its Crisis Management Team earlier this Sunday and crews have been placed on standby to deal with any issues that arise overnight.
Motorists are being urged not to travel during the status red warning and to exercise caution if travelling early on Monday morning.
