New date set for trial of former Limerick detective accused of corruption

The trial will take place in October at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin

A NEW date has been set for the trial of a former Limerick-based detective and a Limerick businessman who are accused of corruption offences.

David Bourke, aged 52, of Main Street Oola, County Limerick has pleaded not guilty to two counts of corruption at Bruree, County Limerick on December 22, 2018.

His co-accused - businessman Stephen O'Sullivan, aged 41, of Farrehy, Broadford, County Limerick has pleaded not guilty to one count of corruption at the same location on the same date.

Following a pre-trial hearing primarily dealing with disclosure issues, Judge Patricia Ryan set a new trial date of October 31, 2023.

The trial will be heard before a jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court as the case was previously transferred from Limerick because of concerns over publicity.
