LIMERICK Celtic's Head Coach Tony Hehir says his side are looking forward to a Domino's Men's Super league play-off tie against top seeds Ballincollig.

Hehir states a play-off berth is something his side feel that they deserve in what is, in Hehir's eyes, the most competitive Super League season in a very long time.

"We have a very young team and it's probably the most competitive Super League season that I can remember. Anyone can beat anyone in this league.

"Our goal at the start of the year was so stay up and we achieved that and reaching the play-offs is something that we feel we deserve because a lot of our games were very, very tight so we definitely deserve to be in the mix.

Hehir says that having a Limerick side in Ireland's premier men's basketball competition 'definitely puts Limerick basketball on the map.'

"Super League basketball coming to Limerick every second weekend is huge for the county and the basketball community within the county, it definitely puts Limerick basketball on the map when you're playing at that level.

"It's huge for the players and it's also huge for the younger guys in the club who look up to these players, to see their senior team competing with the bets in the country," he said.

"Limerick basketball is definitely on the rise, it's great to see all four Limerick teams competing really well in their respective divisions. Our women's team finished second and the Huskies finished third so there is a possibility that they could meet in the semi-final.

"That's huge for women's basketball in the city and it's great for Limerick basketball overall.

"It's great that there is high quality basketball on offer every weekend in the county and that will help hopefully with new members looking to join these clubs, so it's a win-win all around for the Limerick area," he added.

The Limerick Celtic's Head Coach says that his players and management team are really really looking forward to the challenge of Ballincollig, who finished the regular season as top seeds.

"It's really exciting and we're really looking forward to it. The Super league this year has been unique in the way that everything came down to the last weekend. Nobody knew for definite where they were in the play-offs and that's the thing that made it really exciting.

"With the quality that's been in the league all season, people will be really looking forward to the play-offs, to see some really high quality basketball," Hehir concluded.
