Tough weekend of results for Limerick National League basketball sides

Limerick Sport Eagles and Limerick Celtics men's side were the only Limerick teams to record a victory

Two wins for Limerick National League basketball sides over the weekend

ONLY two Limerick National League basketball teams registered victories in the third round of fixtures over the weekend.

In the Men's Division 1 league both Limerick Sport Eagles and Limerick Celtics men's side gained vital victories against their opponents. 

This was Eagles first win of the season after two opening round defeats to Galway sides Moycullen and Titans BC. The UL-based team got the better of Tipperary Talons by five points on Saturday night, 87-82. Scores were evenly distributed throughout the side with both Ignacio Folguerias and Sean Morrissey registering 14 points each with Alexander Carlisle picking up top-point scorer with 24 points on the night. In an extremely exciting Bank Holiday weekend fixture Eagles will take on local rivals Limerick Celtics in Crescent College at 7pm on Saturday night.

Celtics will put their unbeaten run on the line against Eagles this Saturday as they registered their third win of the season away to SETU Waterford Vikings over the weekend. Four Celtics players reached double digits in scores in the 96-73 win with Ariyo Jamal Williams recording 33 points. 

In the Women's Division 1 both the Limerick ladies teams registered losses to Abbey Seals Dublin Lions and McEvoy's Cavan Eagles. 

Limerick Sport Huskies came up against the strong Cavan side who came away with the 67-53 win in St Munchin's College over the weekend. This was huskies first defeat of the season with both Delia Moore and Scout Frame scoring 16 points each. They will now have a few weekends off with their next game not on until the weekend of November 16 against Cleveland Rockets. 

Limerick Celtics women's side also struggled against Abbey Seals Dublin Lions over the weekend with a 100-86 defeat. Shelby Harmeyer had another incredible game for her side with 30 points with Sabhbh Edwards Murphy, Louise Scannell and Amy Buckley all reaching double digits scores as well. They will welcome Oblate Dynamos to Crescent College this Saturday at 4:45pm.
