New Weekly Parkrun begins in County Limerick

New Weekly Parkrun begins in County Limerick

A new parkrun event has been officially launched at The Manor Fields junior parkrun in Adare, Co. Limerick, in collaboration with proud presenting partner Vhi. The inaugural event took place on Sunday 14 December marking a significant addition to the growing network of free, weekly timed junior events across Ireland.

The Manor Fields junior parkrun will take place every Sunday morning at 9:30, offering a welcoming, inclusive environment for children aged 4-14 years old to walk, jog or run, and parents or family members to volunteer or spectate. The event is designed to promote physical activity, community engagement, and wellbeing in a safe and supportive setting.

As with all parkruns, participation is completely free of charge, but pre-registration is required. Participants should register in advance at www.parkrun.ie and bring a scannable barcode on the day to receive an official time.

The success of the event depends entirely on the dedication of local volunteers. Those interested in supporting the event can contact the organising team at themanorfieldsjuniors@parkrun.com to get involved.

The Manor Fields junior parkrun is the latest initiative supported by parkrun Ireland in partnership with Vhi, as part of their ongoing commitment to encouraging active lifestyles and building healthier communities across the country.

Brighid Smyth, Head of Corporate Communications in Vhi said “Vhi is proud to be the long-standing presenting partner in Ireland. We understand the role that parkrun plays in helping people live longer, stronger, healthier lives, so it gives us great joy when we see new junior parkrun events pop up all over the country. Congratulations to The Manor Fields junior parkrun in Limerick on their first event last Sunday. We’re looking forward to seeing the event continue to grow over the coming months, bringing the joy of junior parkrun to people in Limerick.”

Jenny Branigan, Territory Manager for parkrun Ireland added; “It’s fantastic to celebrate the launch of The Manor Fields junior parkrun in Limerick! The magic of junior parkrun is in the community it creates, and today marks the beginning of that journey here. A huge thank you to our presenting partner Vhi, to the amazing local volunteers, and to Limerick Sports Partnership for helping make this very first event possible and bringing it to life at the heart of their community.”
