PARKRUN
NEWCASTLE West Parkrun fell victim of adverse weather conditions last weekend, but the two city events survived.
Dooneen AC member Aly Hogan O’Curry completed her 200th Parkrun at Mungret last Saturday.
At UL, John Whitaker (19:36) and Susan Murnane (20:16) were fastest respectively.
FIXTURES
The Limerick County Indoor Championships take place next weekend in Nenagh starting at 10am, featuring events from 60m to Long Jump and Javelin.
Dooneen AC coach Phil Roche advises that it’s the first competition for many children, especially the younger ones and also many new older children so enjoy the experience and don’t have the expectations too high. It’s all a learning experience going forward.
The competition was first held in 2001 and featured over 90 events and 250 athletes.
Kilmallock AC brothers Tom and John Shanahan, Eanna O’Donnell and Fiona Moloney were some of the best performers.
Next week also sees the Tom Walsh Memorial 10K in Caherconlish. The event, in memory of Limerick’s first County Cross Country Champion has hit 500 entries.

OTHER FIXTURES
The Munster U20, Senior, Masters Indoor Championshiops take place in Nenagh weekend of February 1 and 2 with Juvenile events taking place on the weekends of February 15 and 22 February, and March 2 and 15.
The Michael Rejmer 10 mile 2025 hosted by Dooneen AC is open for entries on Eventmaster. Entry is €20, a new four and six mile relay category has been added and entry is €15 per person.
It takes place on Sunday April 13 at 11am rom Limerick Racecourse.
The new Run Limerick Series commences on Sunday, January 19 with 5K in Castleconnell.
Other events include a 10K on February 2 in Castleconnell, on March 16 the Run Limerick 4-mile combines with the County 4-mile for Limerick Club members, starting at the South Liberties GAA Grounds.
On May 11 a 10-Mile takes place, again from South Liberties. Enter though Justraceevents.com
