NEWCASTLE West’s WestFest committee is about to unleash a taste of Michelin star food on a group of lucky diners.

NEWCASTLE West’s WestFest committee is about to unleash a taste of Michelin star food on a group of lucky diners.

And the man who is planning to make taste buds quiver and mouths water is Michelin-star celebrity chef and restaurateur, Derry Clarke.

It will be a case of L’Ecrivan coming to Newcastle West, says WestFest chairwoman, Ida Dunworth.

And it is all taking place on Saturday, June 13 at Newcastle West Golf Club.

“We are always trying to think of imaginative and creative ways to entertain and amuse our supporters,” Ms Dunworth said. This year alone, they have organised big events: a Strictly Come Dancing extravaganza and Phil Coulter in concert.

Now, they are turning their attention to food by inviting Derry Clarke to head up their Magical Michelin Evening which they predict will be the gastronomic event of the summer.

“Chef-in-residence John Quinn, ably accompanied by head chef Mary Connolly, and their team will work alongside Derry Clarke to create your Michelin Star menu on the night,” Ms Dunworth explains.

The five-course set menu will feature locally sourced ingredients and will be served with specially selected wines.

But the magic will not be only in the cooking. Steve Spade, the Limerick man who is fast making a name for himself in the world of magic, will also perform as part of the evening.

Tickets are limited to 120 people and are already selling well, Ms Dunworth adds. They cost €100 per person or €1000.

If you want to book contatc Ida Dunworth on 086 4010316 or info@westfest.ie The event is a fund-raiser for the Knights of WestFest.
