Dublin-based comedian Anne Gildea will perform her new show Further Adventures in Womaning at two venues in Limerick
FOLLOWING the phenomenal success of How to Get the Menopause & Enjoy It, Anne Gildea returns with her new comedy show, Further Adventures in Womaning, set to tour nationwide, including two upcoming dates in Limerick.
It offers a look back at the landscape of Irish womanhood, weaving together the experiences of our mothers and the women we have become.
“I became quite interested in how things have changed for women so I started looking back a bit to my mother's generation,” said Anne.
“I thought about all the influences that I had growing up and all the ways I thought things were going to be when I grew up.”

The show touches on everything from the nostalgia of The Sunday Drive to the madness of modern-day spa breaks. Along the way, Anne takes us through a “tumultuous half-century of womany stuff,” as she calls it.
“What has surprised and delighted me is how much it resonates with an audience because I really dug deep.”
A standout moment in the show is when Anne discusses the infamous “condom trains” of the 1970s. “I talk in the show about the condom trains in 1971 when Nell McCafferty and 39 other Irish women took the train to Belfast to buy contraceptives to bring them back down to the Republic to highlight the fact that there wasn't access to birth control and how ridiculous that was.”
Catch Anne in the Belltable on May 17 and Friar’s Gate Theatre in Kilmallock on November 29.
