Ireland's Eurovision 2024 entry to be selected on tonight's Late Late Show

Ireland's Eurovision 2024 entry to be selected on tonight's Late Late Show

Ireland's Eurovision 2024 entry will be selected on the Late Late Show tonight (Friday January 26).

A very special Late Late Show Eurosong will air this evening featuring six of Ireland's Eurovision hopefuls who will battle it out to represent their country in Malmö, Sweden in May at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

Viewers have the opportunity to cast their vote for their favourite song, with the winner decided by a combination of National Jury, International Jury and Public Vote.

This year's competing acts include Erica-Cody (Love Me Like I Do), AILSHA (Go Tobann), JyellowL (AKA Jean-Luc Uddoh) (Judas), Isabella Kearney (Let Me Be The Fire), Bambie Thug (Doomsday Blue), and Next in Line (Love Like Us).

The artists were selected from hundreds of entries received by RTÉ following a callout for submissions last year.

Host of The Late Late Show Eurosong Special, Patrick Kielty said, "I am really looking forward to hosting my first Late Late Eurosong party this Friday. Like so many people, I’m part of the generation who cheered on Ireland when we became the high kings and queens of Eurovision.

"It would be amazing to think that one of our six acts this year might be able to go to Sweden and bring back the glory days. Here’s to us picking a Eurovision winner on Friday night!"

Ireland now shares the record with Sweden for most Eurovision wins with a tally of seven victories each, with Ireland becoming the first country to win three times in a row in the 1990s.

The selected act will perform to a worldwide audience of over 160 million people in Sweden this May.

Watch the special at 9.35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
