Inclusive IT company opens doors to new office in Limerick village

Mobile IT has opened its new office in Bruff  and the company is keen to get on with the work of opening up the world of technology to those it normally doesn't touch.

Alice Quinlan, manager of the new office, is eager to get to work, saying  “We’re really looking forward to getting to know the people of Bruff. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time.” 

Outlining the importance of the company's work she told the Leader, “Mobile IT provide IT training for the more disadvantaged members of society, those with disabilities, those with addiction issues, older people, travellers, refugees and we set up a  digital classroom in local venues all around rural Munster, where people cannot access this training due to restrictions of travel and/or cost,” she said.

Mobile IT also provide the technology to allow these minority groups the opportunity to develop these key skills.

“Mobile IT not only bring the knowledge, we also bring the equipment, a laptop for each learner, projectors, WiFi modems, whatever the case may be,” said Alice.

She expanded on the range of activities which will be undertaken by the new team in Bruff.

“We visit the local drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre twice weekly for the past four years, where we cover CV and cover letter writing, interview skills and even web design. We also have a Farmers IT course, enabling farmers to register the births of their calves and the movements of animals, which is very important in rural areas” she concluded.

During 2018, Mobile IT trained 730 people basic IT skills, in 26 villages throughout Cork, Limerick and Tipperary,
