How much?! Man receives staggering amount from Deposit Return Scheme as staff take pictures

Newstalk presenter Shane Beatty took to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday to share that he witnessed a man hand over an impressive €169.50 in receipts from the Deposit Return Scheme.
Beatty said that the man was in SuperValu, with staff even taking pictures of the receipts.
Many took to comment on the post, with one person saying: "Am in awe that someone had the patience to stand at one of those machines for that long!"
Another person shared an image of receipts they've collected from the scheme amounting to almost €90.
Although the Deposit Return Scheme started off sluggishly when it was introduced earlier this year, there was a whopping 500 million returns recorded in mid-September.
Last month, Dublin City Council and Re-Return launched the ‘Give Take Return’ initiative which saw the installation of 80 bins around the city which allow people on-the-go to drop off their bottles and cans for someone else to bring to a deposit return point.
