The University of Limerick Kayak Club hosted and won the 2019 Kayaking Intervarsities this past weekend. This is the 9th victorious year for UL out of the last 10. The Intervarsities saw 350 students from 14 colleges compete in 5 events all based around Limerick.
The intervarsities was composed of 5 different events; Whitewater in Castleconnell, Polo in Killaloe, Freestyle and Long distance on UL campus and the finale of BoaterX being overlooked by King Johns Castle in the city centre.
UL won the intervarsities overall after securing 1st in Long Distance and Whitewater, 2nd in Freestyle and BoaterX and 4th in Polo. NUIG and UCC Kayak clubs placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the overall competition.
