SLIDESHOW: Limerick FC win pre-season clash with Cobh as Chiedozie Ogbene set to leave

Limerick FC strolled past Cobh Ramblers in their second pre-season friendly at UL, but the absence of Chiedozie Ogbene was the most noteworthy observation – as the 20-year-old is in Brentford for a medical.

The speedster visited both Ipswich and Brentford in recent weeks, and The Bees appear to have won his signature – with compensation agreed between the clubs. Barry Cotter, who also visited Ipswich, was present for the friendly, but wasn’t in Tommy Barrett’s squad.

Henry Cameron has been told he doesn’t feature in Barrett’s plans for the season – and is returning to England to find a club, despite having only a number of days to do so, as well as requiring international clearance.

Shane Tracy opened the scoring on the night with a terrific effort on the half-volley from outside the box. Mark O’Sullivan went down under pressure in the area – with referee Rob Hennessy pointing the spot, despite the target man not falling to the ground. New signing Billy Dennehy converted the penalty to seal the result – before a host of changes took place in the second half.

Limerick had three trialists on the night – the most notable of whom was Kaleem Simon – the ex-Bohemians and Longford Town winger.
