THE SOUNDS of uplifting music rang out through the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) as thousands showed their support for Limerick city’s Darkness into Light.
Darkness into Light is an annual walk which takes place in the early hours of the morning before dawn. Those taking part can walk or run the laid-out route as the sun rises.
Four events took place across the county including Pallasgreen, Kilmallock, Kildimo and Newcastle West. The event is in support of Pieta House, an Irish mental health charity.

Deputy Mayor of Limerick city and county Kieran O'Hanlon spoke to the crowd before the event and said it was great to see "the number of young people getting out of bed so early" to support the event.
