WATCH: Monaleen manager Eoin Brislane reflects on Limerick senior hurling championship win over Adare

Monaleen defeated Adare by five points in their Group 2 opener at Fedamore on Thursday evening

2024 quarter-finalists Monaleen opened their Whitebox Property Developments Ltd Limerick senior hurling championship campaign with a 1-20 to 0-18 victory over Adare in Group 2 at Fedamore on Thursday evening.

Monaleen laid the foundation for this win in the opening half after which the wind-assisted city side held a significant 1-12 to 0-5 advantage.

Adare did produce an improved display in the second period, scoring 13 points. However, Monaleen maintained the lead throughout to claim victory and secure the two precious points on offer.

Both sides are back in action next week in Group 2, the Mark Foley-managed Adare side taking on Mungret St Paul's in Ballybrown on Wednesday, while Monaleen will face Dromin-Athlacca back in Fedamore on Friday, August 8.

Following Thursday night's opening round game in Fedamore, Leader Sport caught up with Monaleen manager Eoin Brislane.
