"It was a question of can we compete at this level, can we perform at this level and I think that's we are going to take from tonight. I don't think we have anything to fear in premier intermediate but at the same time two points is nothing at the end of October. We won't get carried away," said Croagh Kilfinny's Seamus Hickey after their side's victory over Effin in the Lyons of Limerick premier intermediate hurling championship.
Croagh-Kilfinny defeated Effin 1-21 to 0-16 in the opening round round of the Limerick premier intermediate hurling championship on Thursday evening in Mick Neville Park. The west Limerick club made the jump up to the premier intermediate ranks after winning the intermediate championship in 2024.
Cian O'Carroll was in outstanding scoring form for the winners, finishing with 1-12, while former Limerick hurler Seamus Hickey also impressed, contributing 0-4 from play for Croagh-Kilfinny.
Croagh-Kilfinny will look to make it two wins from two against Blackrock on Friday August 1 in Ballyagran at 7pm.
After Croagh Kilfinny's victory over Effin, Seamus Hickey caught up with Leader Sport.
