WATCH: Limerick minor hurling manager Donal O'Grady: "The players showed great character to grind it out"

Limerick secured their first win of the Munster minor hurling championship when edging past Tipperary in Thurles

LIMERICK minor hurlers took a giant step towards securing a place in the knock-out stages of the All-Ireland series after securing a gritty 2-13 to 0-18 victory over Tipperary in their Munster minor hurling championship round robin fixture at FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles on Good Friday night.

A resilient Limerick side, who had trailed 0-6 to 0-10, at half-time, produced a tenacious second half display and powered by goals from Rian Horgan and substitute Killian Begley, Donal O'Grady's side secured a precious first victory of the campaign.

Na Piarsaigh's Shane Waters landed an impressive haul of seven points from placed balls for Limerick, while Cathal Dennehy, of Glenroe, struck a hat-trick of crucial points from play.

Limerick complete their programme of round robin games in the Munster minor hurling championship against Clare on Friday night next, April 25, at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale, 7pm.

While Limerick have one win from three games to date, Friday's opponents Clare have recorded one success from their two fixtures.
