NA Piarsaigh hurling manager Shane O'Neill feels it was important for his side to start their Limerick SHC campaign with a victory. The Caherdavin based side defeated Patrickswell 1-17 to 0-23 on Friday evening at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
O'Neill said "there has been nothing between ourseleves and Patrickswell in the last three games." Na Piarsaigh and Patrickswell went in deadlocked at 0-11 apiece at the break but the victors went on to outscore their opponents 1-6 to 0-12 in the second half.
Mike Casey, William O'Donoghue and Conor Boylan have all returned from the Limerick senior hurling panel to this Na Piarsaigh team. "Obviously as a coaching team you'd love to have your players all the time but that's not the case. Limerick have been so good and so successful and it's brillant for them. It brings a huge level of experience in tight moments to every dressing room. Our three boys were immense there again".
The reigning county champions will look to make two wins out of out two against Ahane on Saturday August 10 in the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 7pm.
After Na Piarsaigh's victory over Patrickswell, Leader sport caught up with Shane O'Neill.
