WITH THE new council beginning their term and the historic first directly-elected mayor of Limerick, John Moran, starting his brand-new job, Limerick Live took a walk around Limerick city to ask locals what amenities they would like to see added or improved in the city.
The priority appears to be public transport - three out of the five residents of Limerick we spoke to would like to see an improvement in buses and trains, and even the addition of a tram line.
From requests for “a lot more buses provided for the public”, to a wish for the council to “inject a bit of life in and around the town”, locals had lots of ideas on how to improve the area.
One Henry Street resident explained how he is “constantly having to ask the council” to clean the alleyway behind his home, and has noted this issue in lanes across the city.
Their opinions weren’t all negative though, with one person commenting that “as a city we have great amenities” and another praising the work undertaken recently in Limerick city centre to improve Colbert Station and the surrounding areas.
