WATCH: Bunting, brides and blockbuster hurling in Limerick

“I AM, as ever, in bewildered awe of anyone who can make this kind of commitment,” Charles states in the 90s classic film, Four Weddings and a Funeral, admitting that he is, in fact, a hopeless romantic searching for that ever-lasting commitment.

Someone who knows all about commitment is Triona Daly of Grange who, year after year, expresses her unwavering love for the men in green by decorating the front of her home.

“What you are looking at here is a take on Four Weddings and a Funeral so it's obviously Four All-Irelands and a Wedding because Declan Hannon and his fiancee are getting married, I believe, in a couple of weeks' time so it's an homage to the Limerick hurlers going for the four-in-a-row,” she explains, standing on the roadside between Limerick and Bruff.

“This is the bride and groom behind us, they’re a bit shook. I hope the weather doesn’t make them fall over but we’ve taken every precaution so, hopefully, they will last the week like the Limerick hurlers will last. Beyond 5 o’clock next Sunday, we’ll all know then,” she says as the cars whiz past.

“We are not ready to let Liam MacCarthy go, no way,” she adds.

Her nephew, Ollie Cronin, will be in Croke Park to show his support for his beloved county. “Hopefully we will win by a few points, put them back in their box!” he says, no beating around the bush.

While his clubman and his favourite hurler, Sean Finn, is out injured, there’s another hurling wizard, or two, that the Bruff GAA player has his eye on.

“Cian Lynch, I’m hoping he will have a good game and quieten the media when they are on about him saying ‘he’s having a bad game’. Hopefully shush them up now for a few days. Hopefully Gearoid Hegarty pulls off a few nice ones there now because he hasn’t been shining out the greatest as we would want him to be so hopefully he’ll score a few points for us, get ahead, get a few scores on the board early.”

Let's hope the weather ‘holds up’ the Grange bride and groom and holds up for the big game!
