LIMERICK hurling manager John Kiely pressed the flesh of another living legend this Saturday afternoon - that of Kilmallock’s Betty McElholm on the occasion of her 106 birthday!
Betty, who was born on March 18, 1917, was treated to a surprise visit by the Galbally man who brought a special present for the birthday girl - the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
The senior team manager last walked in Betty’s front door on the main street of Kilmallock on August 22, 2018, just three days after the senior hurlers won their first All- Ireland title in 45 years.
And this Saturday he brought his two young daughters Ruth and Aoife along to shake the hand of Betty who must be the oldest citizen in Limerick.
