"We knew coming in here against Oola, it was kind of a relegation quarter-final. We didn't want to put ourseleves into bother then going into a relegation semi-final because obviously you don't know what can happen from there. Thank god we seen it out, it's just relief more than anything," said Rathkeale's Adam Shanagher.
Rathkeale retained their Irish Wire Products Limerick Senior Football Championship status with a 1-15 to 0-16 victory over Oola in Mungret St Paul's GAA club on Saturday afternoon.
Adam Shanagher has struggled with injury through this year's championship and Saturday was the first time he started for his club in the SFC this year. Jimmy Lee called Shanagher into the Limerick senior football panel this year. He was also part of the Croagh-Kilfinny side that were narrowly defeated Garryspillane in the premier intermediate hurling championship semi-final last weekend.

The victors just did enough to hang on for a two point win in the end and Oola did have a two point effort from Josh Ryan in the final play of the game which just tailed wide.
Limerick vice-captain Barry Coleman, Andrew Meade and Andrew White scored 0-11 between them for the 2024 intermediate county champions.
After Rathkeale's victory over Oola, Adam Shanagher caught up with Leader Sport.
