COUNCILLOR Catherine Slattery of Fianna Fail has been reelected to Limerick City and County Council.
The long-running public representative has topped polls in Limerick City East, where she was voted 1,894 times as number one by people in the area.
This is the second consecutive election with Cllr Slattery topped the polls in the Limerick City East district. In 2019, she came out on top with 1,188 votes.
“I’m so happy, I’m delighted,” she said. “I’m just overwhelmed. I got a good vote in 2019 but today was just unbelievable and I just want to thank everyone who gave me number one.
“It will be my pleasure to serve the people of Limerick City East for the next five years.”
The popular councillor is parliamentary secretary for Willie O’Dea TD and is no stranger to politics, as she keeps her seat comfortably in Limerick City and County Council.
She was first elected in 2019 and says that she first entered politics as she felt her local community was underrepresented.
Two candidates were elected in the first count for Limerick City East.
