Treaty United’s Madison McGuane has been included in this week’s Club Orange Women’s Premier Division Team Of The Week

The talented Limerick native has been included despite the Shannonsiders losing out 1-0 to Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght last weekend in a game that Treaty will feel they should have gotten more out of.

The first chance of the contest fell Treaty’s way after just seven minutes when Katie Lawlee found herself standing over a free-kick.

The Limerick native’s ball into the box fell to the feet of Emma Oliphant but her effort was off target and over the bar.

Two minutes later, Shamrock Rovers registered their first shot of the conest on target but the effort was well saved by Treaty shot-stopper Katherine Hess.

Rovers almost found the breakthrough ten minutes later but some real gutsy defending from the travelling Treaty defence ensured the effort was blocked.

Caroline Penner replaced Ciara Breslin after 26 minutes as Treaty continued to turn the screw with chances aplenty coming their way.

Madison McGuane was able to harvest a chance for herself just after the half hour.

The talented midfielder’s shot from outside the box was well saved by Turner in the Shamrock Rovers net.

The visitors thought they had taken the lead shortly before half time through Emma Oliphant.

Eva Loftus’ exquisite through ball found Oliphant but her effort was well saved by Turner in the Rovers net, who was having an impressive first half.

The sides went in level at the break with Treaty perhaps disappointed not to have taken the lead in the first 45’.

Laurie Ryan decided to make her second change of the day at half-time with Eva Loftus making way for new signing Fiona Doherty, who made her Treaty debut last week against Hibernian at the Markets Field.

Treaty shot-stopper Katherine Hess was called into action on the hour mark when an in-swinging Rovers corner caused consternation in the Treaty box but the American goalkeeper was equal to it and kept the score at 0-0.

At the other end of the field, Turner was continuing to keep the Treaty threat at bay, much like she had done in the first half.

Substitute Caroline Penner stung the palms of Turner from close range on 73 minutes and with both net minders in sublime form, the contest looked destined to finish a stalemate.

Despite Turner’s heroics, the Shannonsiders continued to push for an opener and they came agonisingly close with ten minutes to go with Aibhlinn Cotter standing over a corner.

Cotter’s cross found Kyah Coady who’s attempt was well saved by Eabha Turner yet again.

Ryan’s final change of the day came three minutes from time when Jodie Griffin was introduced with Madison McGuane making way.

Unfortunately for Treaty, it was the hosts who found the lead in Tallaght. Alice Buggle scored a late winner for the hosts in a contest that the Super Blues deserved more from.

With little time to find an equaliser, the final whistle was blown and Treaty left the capital with zero points to bring back to Garryowen.

Up next for Treaty is a home tie against Shelbourne at the Markets Field on Saturday at 3pm.

The pair last met on the opening day of the season back in March.

Goals from Aoife Kelly and Rebecca Watkins ensured ‘Shels’ a 2-0 win and all three points on the day at Tolka Park.

Today’s contest will be broadcast live on LOITV.
