Limerick's 'Magpie' O'Connor bows out of Dutch Darts Championship

O’Connor bowed out of the tournament with a loss to Luke Woodhouse in Holland
CAPPAMORE’S William O’Connor is out of the Dutch Darts Championship at the last 16 stage following a 6-4 defeat to England’s Luke Woodhouse this Sunday afternoon.
‘The Magpie’ had hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the European Tour competition but fell to Woodhouse after a tough battle in Maastricht.
O’Connor had come through a first round challenge of home favourite Richard Veenstra after a 6-2 victory to set up a round two clash against Michael van Gerwen.
The three-time world champion was firm favourite to see off the Limerickman but O’Connor had other ideas.
He dispatched van Gerwen on a 6-5 scoreline that included impressive ton plus finishes of 136, 131 and a 121 in the winning leg. The victory included an average of over 100 for the Cappamore man.
O’Connor is in a good position to reach the European Darts Championship later this month and with big tournaments on the horizon, he will be hoping to continue his good form for the rest of the year.
