MURROE-BOHER got off to a winning start in the Lyons of Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship after seeing off Granagh-Ballingarry on a 1-19 to 1-14 scoreline in Adare.

Pat Tobin’s side, back at this grade after winning the Intermediate Championship in 2025, were full value for their victory in what was a high-quality contest.

Seanie Tobin fired over 1-7 for the east Limerick side who led by four points at the break but Granagh-Ballingarry fought back to lead after a Sean O’Connor goal.

However, Murroe-Boher clicked into gear in the final quarter to earn a victory on their return to the the championship.

Two Seanie Tobin scores and one from Oisin Holmes gave Murroe-Boher a fine start and that got even better when Tobin’s free from his own ‘65 went all the way to the net.

A Luke Flynn free got Granagh-Ballingarry off the mark but they struggled to keep a lid of Murroe-Boher’s quick paced attack in the opening quarter, outside of impressive half forward Michael Russell.

Murroe-Boher led by 1-9 to 0-4 heading into the 20th minute but two Russell strikes from play and a Flynn free got them to within five. That gap was at four at half time thanks to O’Connor’s first of the game.

The second half was a much tighter affair with O’Connor (2) and Flynn responding to Darren Collopy’s score on the resumption.

The game was then squared up for the first time on 37 minutes when O’Connor fired to the corner of Killian Quaid’s net after David Condron and Flynn combined.

O’Connor then sent over a sensational score to put Granagh-Ballingarry ahead for the first time in the game.

However, Murroe-Boher settled back into their task with a Tobin free and a well-taken point from play by substitute Jack Nicholas.

Tobin and Michael Ryan then fired over points for Murroe-Boher with Darragh Casey responding for Granagh-Ballingarry.

It was Murroe-Boher that hit the gas in the final stages with points from Ryan, Dylan Sheehan, John O’Keeffe and Holmes seeing them to victory.
