The hurling and camogie hybrid with the traditional Scottish game takes place as a double-header at the Cork venue on Saturday
LIMERICK camogie star Sophie O’Callaghan will represent Ireland in this weekend’s camogie-shinty international at SuperValu Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
The hurling and camogie hybrid with the traditional Scottish game takes place as a double-header at the Cork venue on Saturday with the ladies game at 4pm before the Hurling-Shinty international between Ireland and Scotland at 6pm.
“Limerick Camogie is delighted to congratulate senior player Sophie O’Callaghan on her selection for the Ireland Camogie–Shinty team, who will face Scotland next weekend at Páirc Uí Chaoimh,” a statement from the county board read.
“Sophie’s selection is a tremendous honour and a proud moment for her, her family, her club and the wider Limerick camogie community. It recognises her talent, dedication and commitment to the game.”
As well as a powerful defender on the field, Adare’s O’Callaghan is a strong advocate for players off the field as part of the Gaelic Players Association National Executive Committee.
Eamon O'Shea has yet to reveal his squad for the men’s game. In recent years Dan Morrissey has taken part, however O’Shea is limited in how many players from Liam MacCarthy Cup counties he is allowed to choose.
