Limerick GAA confirm major news surrounding senior hurling management

John Kiely has been Limerick manager since 2017, leading the county to six All-Ireland titles

JOHN Kiely has been confirmed as the Limerick senior hurling manager for the 2027 season. The six-time All-Ireland winning manager led the Shannonsiders to Liam MacCarthy Cup glory in July, defeating Galway by 11 points in the final.
It capped off a perfect year for the Treaty who also claimed Munster Hurling League, Allianz League and Munster SHC silverware in a trophy-laden campaign.
The Galbally man was confirmed for an 11th season in charge. After the breakthrough success in 2018, Kiely then led the county to a historic four-in-a-row success from 2020-23.
Following a surprise quarter-final defeat to Dublin in 2025, Kiely and Limerick bounced back to win every title on offer this year.
Kiely has an option of a second year for 2028 and his backroom team is set to be confirmed in due course.
Limerick’s 2027 season is expected to get underway in early January with the Munster Senior Hurling League before the national league commences later that month.
The extension is subject to ratification by delegates at the October meeting of the Limerick County Board. Commenting on the news Limerick GAA Chairman Seamus McNamara said:
“We are delighted that John is set to continue on in his role as Limerick Senior Hurling Manager for at least another season. John, his management team and players have brought so much positivity to the county and we are delighted that he will remain at the helm for 2027.”
