Dramatic weekend of club hurling action with Limerick SHC knockout places confirmed

THE PROMOTION places in the Bon Secours Hospital Limerick SHC were confirmed with the final group of fixtures taking place over the weekend.

Na Piarsaigh booked their semi-final place, alongside Kilmallock, with a 0-20 to 1-9 win over the Balbec in their fixture in Doon. Kilmallock had already confirmed their semi-final spot with a game to spare.

Once again, Ronan Lynch was the lead scorer for Shane O'Neill's Na Piarsaigh side. He landed 0-8 in a win that sees them top the group.

Doon and Patrickswell made the quarter-finals following wins over Ahane and Kildimo-Pallaskenry. Goals from Adam English and Darragh Stapleton were enough to give Doon victory by six points in their shooutout with Ahane.

Jordan Higgins, John Flynn and Aaron Gillane all hit the net for 'The Well' who finish fourth in the group on six points. Doon place third by virtue of their win over Patrickswell.

They are joined in the quarter-finals by Mungret St Paul's and Ballybrown. Mungret had already been assured of their knockout place with a game to spare but made sure of first place and promotion to Group One in 2024 with a 2-17 to 0-20 win over Ballybrown in Claughaun.

This was only Mungret's second season back at the senior grade and will now dine at the top table in 2024 after finishing ahead of Ballybrown. Liam Lynch was the star turn for the victors with an impressive scoring haul of 1-12.

Ballybrown just about qualified for the quarter-finals thanks to a scoring difference of plus one over Adare. As a result, Adare finish third in the group.

The draw for the Limerick SHC quarter-finals will take place this evening with both games set to take place this coming Saturday at the TUS Gaelic Grounds. It will be the first time that teams will play at the home of Limerick GAA in the club championship this year.
