The Liam MacCarthy Cup is coming back to Shannonside after a clinical performance from John Kiely’s Limerick side, who ran out resounding 1-29 to 1-18 winners over Galway at Croke Park
The victory, Limerick’s 13th, seals a historic, flawless clean sweep of silverware this season. Having already captured the Munster League, the Allianz National League, and the Munster SHC title, the Treaty men saved their most complete performance for the biggest stage of all.
As captain Cian Lynch raised the Liam MacCarthy cup aloft on the steps of the Hogan Stand, there was an eruption of noise from the tens of thousands of fans who attended the final.
Below, we rate the Limerick players out of 10 for their unforgettable performances at Croke Park.

9. Cian Lynch (9.5)
What can you say that hasn’t already been said? The Limerick captain was at his very best on All-Ireland final day. Scored two points but offered so much more. Like so many of his colleagues, a generational talent. | Sportsfile

10. Gearóid Hegarty (9)
May not have scored for a second successive game but his presence alone caused Galway so many headaches. Unlucky not to get at least one goal but his creativity for others made up for that in spades. | Sportsfile

11. Aidan O'Connor (8)
Understated in comparison to other games this year but still put in a solid performance. Two points from play and sent over his three frees with consummate ease. A strong case for Young Hurler of the Year. | Sportsfile

12. Cathal O'Neill (9.5)
Best performance for Limerick on the most important day. O’Neill, who was name The Sunday Game Man of the Match, has been getting better each year and went to a new level against Galway. His goal in the 43rd minute effectively ended Galway’s challenge. | Sportsfile
