The Liam MacCarthy Cup is coming back to Shannonside after a clinical performance from John Kiely’s Limerick side, who ran out resounding 1-29 to 1-18 winners over Galway at Croke Park
The victory, Limerick’s 13th, seals a historic, flawless clean sweep of silverware this season. Having already captured the Munster League, the Allianz National League, and the Munster SHC title, the Treaty men saved their most complete performance for the biggest stage of all.
As captain Cian Lynch raised the Liam MacCarthy cup aloft on the steps of the Hogan Stand, there was an eruption of noise from the tens of thousands of fans who attended the final.
Below, we rate the Limerick players out of 10 for their unforgettable performances at Croke Park.

5. Diarmaid Byrnes (9)
At his very best in Croke Park. Defensively Byrnes was very solid. His delivery into the forwards from distance was top class and also sent over four points, the best of which from under the Hogan Stand late on. | Sportsfile

6. William O'Donoghue (9)
Has taken to the centre back position like a duck to water. Solid as a rock throughout the 70 minutes and gave great protection to the full back line. His best display at GAA HQ. | SPORTSFILESportsfile

7. Kyle Hayes (9)
Another special showing by one of the greats. Given his career-threatening injury in a club game last year, Hayes’ resurgence has been remarkable. Bookmarked with two excellent points in the second half. | Sportsfile

8. Adam English (9)
Two points from play and an all-action display from the Doon man. English excelled in the semi-final but brought it to a new level against Galway. His work-rate stopped a number of scores. Top performance. | Sportsfile
