The Liam MacCarthy Cup is coming back to Shannonside after a clinical performance from John Kiely’s Limerick side, who ran out resounding 1-29 to 1-18 winners over Galway at Croke Park
The victory, Limerick’s 13th, seals a historic, flawless clean sweep of silverware this season. Having already captured the Munster League, the Allianz National League, and the Munster SHC title, the Treaty men saved their most complete performance for the biggest stage of all.
As captain Cian Lynch raised the Liam MacCarthy cup aloft on the steps of the Hogan Stand, there was an eruption of noise from the tens of thousands of fans who attended the final.
Below, we rate the Limerick players out of 10 for their unforgettable performances at Croke Park.

13. Aaron Gillane (9)
Back to his best on final day. Movement off the ball was exceptional as was his pass for O’Neill’s goal. Gave the Galway full back line a torrid afternoon. Scored 0-4 from play. | Sportsfile

14. Shane O'Brien (7)
Not at the standard he has set for himself but will continue to improve. Dovetailed brilliantly with Gillane in the inside line. Unlucky not to get a couple of points. | Sportsfile

15. Peter Casey (9)
The hardest working corner forward. Casey never stops and to see him excel at Croke Park once again warmed the heart given his horrific injuries. His four points only told half of the story. | Sportsfile

16. Dan Morrissey (6) and Tom Morrissey (7)
Tom Morrissey came on for O’Brien 12 minutes into the second half. Got on a tonne of ball and influenced for a couple of scores. Good display. The game was over by the time Dan entered the fray. He may feel hard done by not starting but was as professional as ever. | Sportsfile
