The Government has decided those aged 66 will continue to be entitled to receive the State pension despite calls, in several quarters, to increase the age of eligibility to 68.

Agreement between the Government parties on a plan to reform the State pension and wider retirement rules is close, although all of the final details have still to be agreed.
