ARTIST Mark Bourke has been awarded a commission for BDO's Limerick city office.

The Boher native has been commissioned by BDO, a global accountancy and business advisory firm, to create a large painting for the organisation's Limerick city office.

Mark's work has become increasingly collectable in recent years, with paintings held in private and public collections, both in Ireland and internationally.

Collections currently holding works created by the Limerick artist include those at Limerick City and County Council, Amesto Global, TTM Healthcare and many other international partners.

Mark's distinctive paintings draw on vernacular buildings, sheds and rusting corrugated panels, rendering them familiar through abstracted planes of colour.

Vibrant reds, intense blues and chalky whites bring a signature sense of drama and theatre to his work.

The piece will join the various works done by Mark on display in the office, having been previously commissioned by the BDO for creations including those from his Barn Series and Thomond Park Series.

Before turning his primary focus to commission work, Mark was the owner of an art gallery in Limerick city centre, which he sold up in 2014.

In October 2024, Mark returned to Limerick city for his first solo exhibition in several years, showcasing his artwork at The Georgian House on Pery Square.

With his travels abroad providing inspiration for his work, Mark’s artistry has attracted international attention, sharing a post on Instagram of a painting shipped to Copenhagen, Denmark.
