A WORKSHOP is taking place ahead of the returning Light Moves Festival of Screendance aims to encourage those over 50s to create a dance film.

The Dance Limerick workshop takes place two weeks ahead of the Light Moves festival, which runs from November 3-6 and is the only such festival in the country.

The dance filmmaking workshop, with choreographer Philippa Donnellan and filmmaker Mary Wycherley, takes place on Friday, October 21.

"In this workshop participants will learn about creating a dance film and how to shoot dance using a state of the art camera," said a spokesperson. "The workshop will begin with an easy dance warm-up and the creation of a short piece of choreography.

The workshop is presented by Light Moves Festival of Screendance, Ireland’s international festival of dance on film, which is produced by Dance Limerick.
