A YOUNG County Limerick woman has turned her life-long passion for fashion into a brand new blog.

Orla Daly, aged 27, from Crecora, started the brilliantly named Daly Fashion Fix in recent weeks.

“For as long as I can remember, I have always loved all things fashion! If I wasn’t talking about, wearing or buying fashion then I’d be dreaming up new outfit ideas. Back in school I considered applying to the Limerick School of Art and Design with a view to starting my career in fashion, but in the end I decided to get a ‘safer’ degree under my belt first and look to get a job working in fashion further down the line,” said Orla.

She has a degree in real estate under her belt but now is concentrating on belts, other accessories, clothes, shoes and beauty products.

“I found out pretty quickly after venturing out into the world of work however that it wasn’t going to be easy to break into a career in the fashion industry. My first real taste of immersing myself in the fashion world was whilst I was living in London. I completed a pattern design/dress-making course with Prangsta which was run by Central College St Martins graduate, Melanie Wilson. Prangsta have created outfits for a number of well-known celebs including Prince Harry, Kate Moss and Katy Perry. This was a great experience and definitely reinforced my love for fashion,” said Orla.

She now works in online marketing, website design and development which complements her creative side.

“Through my job I’ve worked with a range of online retailers and bloggers, and have been able to gain a whole new range of skills in the online world. So I decided to take the plunge and start my own fashion and beauty blog. I began by brainstorming ideas for the blog and with the help of my very talented friend Aoife I came up with the name Daly Fashion Fix! Next I worked on designing the logo, again with lots of input from my nearest and dearest, and finally I had to bite the bullet and start blogging!

“I’m really delighted I finally took the plunge to launch the blog, which can be found at It’s only been live for a few weeks now but I’m really pleased with the great response it has got so far,” said Orla.

Readers can expect regular updates sharing her favourite fashion finds and tips.

“I’ll be blogging about the latest trends and how to wear them, ranging from complete head-to-toe outfit ideas to bags, jewellery and shoes. I will also be writing DIY articles on hair, makeup and beauty. I really want people to be able to relate to the blog so you’ll find normal, everyday clothes, mixed in with some high fashion dupes of course. My blog is linked Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so you can sign up to any of these to receive new blog post alerts.”

Her fashion icons are Sienna Miller and coincidentally Edie Sedgwick who Sienna Miller plays in the film Factory Girl.

You can’t talk about the fashion industry without mentioning the Kardashian dynasty.

“They are very smart business people, they never let an opportunity pass. The KK collection is quite popular and the recently launched, Kendall-Kylie collection is really gaining popularity.

“If you look at Kendall and Kylie, a few years ago we saw them planning their sweet 16 birthdays and now Kylie is the face of Estée lauder and Kendall's new cosmetics line is always sold out. As for Kim's hubby, Kanye West, his new Adidas collaboration, Yeezy, got nearly as much attention as Beyonce's new visual album (which was a lot). They seem to dominate everything they do, so hats off to them for that.”
