My Week with Celia Holman Lee: Celebrating sustainability in Limerick

SUSTAINABILITY - focused fashion shows are always great events to be a part of, as raising awareness and recycling timeless styles is a must for the future.
Creating clothes with environmentally-friendly materials and being eco-aware means we can lessen our waste while keeping ageless style alive.
The Holman Lee Agency and I had the honour of sharing the stage with local talents and wonderful people, such as MC for the event and climate journalist, Jo Linehan.
The event was led by Marlene & Co, a consciously curated fashion brand and took place in Limerick city’s Sarsfield street venue, DUO .
The atmosphere was buzzing and doing the fashion show in DUO was a lot of fun, as we anticipated it would be. Marlene & Co designs are simply incredible and vibrant, with diverse colours and fabrics - all ethically sourced.
The online retail outlet now has a pop-up shop in Limerick’s DUO and, on the night, Foxes Bow Whiskey provided guests with cocktails while Limerick DJ Olivia Chau entertained with music. It was a pleasure to host a fashion show on the night and showcase sustainable styles.
I also attended the Crescent Shopping Centre for a competition ceremony - primary school students were designing reusable tote bags to mark the centre’s 50th anniversary.
Three schools received €5,000 each as well as 1,500 tote bags of their winning design.
First place also received a training session and talk with Limerick hurler Declan Hannon.
I was overjoyed to have been part of the judging panel on the day, alongside Declan's wife Louise Cantillon.
In first place was a pupil at St. Nessans National School, and I want to extend a warm congratulations to this pupil, who was so talented.
And Declan, of course, is a hugely talented sportsman and a credit to Limerick as is his beautiful wife, Louise!
