Met Éireann has warned that there are very low temperatures and "severe frost" on the way in Ireland for the coming weekend. 

Temperatures are expected to drop to as low as -4° overnight on Saturday and Sunday. 

Tonight will be cold too, with frost and ice developing and temperatures set to drop to -2°. 

During the day tomorrow, plenty of sunshine will be seen across the country with Ulster and Connacht gearing up for some wintry showers. 

Temperatures won't go above 6°.

Tomorrow night is when the cold really kicks in, with temperatures dropping to -4° in parts of the country. 

It will remain dry with clear skies in most counties but fog is likely to form. 

Sunday will start cold and the frost from the night before will be slow to clear. 

Sunny spells are expected across the majority of the country along with scattered wintry showers for Ulster, Connacht and parts of west Munster.

It will stay largely dry elsewhere and daytime temperatures will be between 1° and 6°. 

Met Éireann says Sunday night will be "very cold" but mostly dry.

Temperatures will vary between -4° and 0°.
