LIVE: Met Éireann in 22C heat forecast but pinpoints nasty twist within days
Met Éireann has predicted some pleasant weather for Ireland this week with dry spells but "persistent" rain may arrive over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
In its forecast, Met Éireann says there will be "a good deal of dry weather and some rain or showers at times with temperatures reaching the high-teens to low-twenties."
Forecasters say Monday "will be mainly dry with a fair amount of cloud, some sunny intervals and perhaps a few showers. This evening, rain and drizzle will develop in the southwest and west and will spread eastwards. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees with light to moderate westerly breezes.
"Rain will spread eastwards to all areas [on Monday night]. It will mostly clear by morning, but patchy drizzle and mist will linger in many areas. A mild night with temperatures not falling below 13 to 16 degrees with light to moderate west or southwest winds."
The forecast continues: "Tuesday morning will start off mostly cloudy with patchy light rain, drizzle and mist. It will become mainly dry and will gradually brighten up with some sunny intervals developing in the afternoon, the best of these further west. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees with moderate west to northwest winds.

"Tuesday night will be mainly dry with a fair amount of cloud and some clear spells. A few spots of light rain or drizzle will occur. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 15 degrees in mostly light northwest breezes.
"Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with perhaps a few showers. More persistent rain will spread from the west through the evening and night. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees with mostly light, occasionally moderate, northwest or west winds.
"On Thursday morning, rain will clear eastwards. Sunny spells and scattered showers will follow for the rest of the day. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in moderate northwest winds.
"Friday will be a bright day with sunny spells and well scattered showers. It will be a bit cooler with highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees and moderate northwesterly breezes."
Looking ahead to the August Bank Holiday weekend, Met Éireann predicts a decent Saturday before a big change: "At the moment it looks like Saturday will be mainly dry with just well scattered showers and that more persistent rain will move over the country through Saturday night and Sunday. Temperatures will range from 16 to 20 or 21 degrees."
