Motorists and road uses across much of the country are being urged to exercise caution this Monday morning due to 'hazardous travelling conditions' because of thick and dense fog.
Met Éireann, which has issued a status yellow alert for 18 counties, says the fog will linger in places, leading to impaired visibility.
The warning, which remains valid until 12 midday, applies to Cavan, Monaghan, Munster, Connacht, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly and Westmeath.
"Pockets of dense fog lingering, leading to impaired visibility and hazardous travelling conditions," states the warning.

According to its latest forecast, Met Éireann says it will be a mostly dry day with hazy sunny spells and well scattered showers once the fog clears.
However, it will stay cloudy across the south and east with patchy light rain and drizzle, clearing towards evening.
Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in a light variable breeze can be expected.

It will be cloudy across Munster and south Leinster this Monday night with outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading from the southwest. Drier elsewhere with clear spells and scattered showers.
