Major weather twist for Ireland as 'unseasonable' conditions set to batter the nation

Ireland is set to face some unseasonable conditions this week as the country prepares to brace for cooler temperatures, wind and rain after a stunning mini heatwave.

According to Met Éireann, blustery outbreaks of showery rain will extend nationwide this Thursday morning. Cool for the time of year with highs of 13 to 17 degrees. A coastal weather warning will see the weather unseasonably windy too with fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds.

Tonight will be mostly dry with clear spells, and moderating westerly winds. Some passing showers still too though, mainly in the North. Lows of 8 to 11 degrees.

Friday will be a day of sunny spells and well scattered showers, mainly in the North and West in mostly moderate westerly winds. Becoming cloudy with more general rain will arrive into Connacht and Munster later in the evening. Highs of 14 to 19 degrees, mildest for Leinster and east Munster.

Friday night: Low cloud and scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle will gradually extend eastwards. It will remain driest, coolest and clearest for Ulster. Lows of 7 to 13 degrees in light southerly or variable breezes.

Saturday: A damp, locally wet start with overnight rain and drizzle gradually clearing away southeastwards. Sunny spells will develop across the northern half of the country. Highs of 15 to 19 degrees in mostly moderate northwest breezes.

Saturday night: Dry with clear spells and just light northwesterly breezes. Cool with lows of 6 to 9 degrees.

Sunday: Some showers will affect Ulster with showery rain arriving into Atlantic counties during the afternoon. Driest and mildest across the Midlands, South and East with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 13 to 20 degrees, all in light to moderate westerly breeze.

Sunday night: Scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, but with some areas staying dry. Mild with lows of 11 or 12 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly breezes.

Monday: Cloudy outbreaks of rain and drizzle will give way to sunny spells and well scattered showers. Breezy in moderate to fresh northwest winds. Highs of 13 to 20 degrees, mildest across the Southeast.
