STUDENTS from National Learning Network in Limerick, a supported training college based in Raheen Business Park, are set to lend their unique talents and creative expression to an art exhibition.
Approximately 100 students from the specialised training service are currently crafting mixed media pieces that will go on display at the Limerick College of Art and Design for a second year running.
Taking place this November, the exhibition shines a light on the individual expression of the students who attend NLN, a leading provider of individualised and accessible education and development opportunities for students with additional support requirements.
Paula O’Brien, an instructor at National Learning Network (NLN) Limerick, is bringing her expertise in art and design to coordinate this large-scale exhibition, involving a range of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and various different art mediums.

Ms. O’Brien said of the exhibition: “At NLN, we strive to foster confidence and a sense of belonging, and each person learns in a way that best meets their needs. Creative expression is a key aspect of our service; we encourage students to explore new ways to make their voices heard. This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to showcase their strengths to a wide audience and we invite all members of the public to visit during the week long event.”
Speaking of this year’s chosen theme, ‘Woodland fairies and goblins’, Ms O’Brien explained: “All our students love Fantasia; influences like Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit have inspired their imaginations and that’s where we came up with the theme.”
“We are honoured to be invited back for a second year to exhibit our students’ fantastic works of art. We would like to thank the Dean of the College, Mike Fitzgerald, Des Farrell, Senior Technical Officer, and Ciara Healy, Head of the Fine Art Department, for bringing this wonderful event to fruition”, added Ms. O’Brien.
NLN Limerick’s annual Art Exhibition will launch in Limerick College of Art Design on November 25 and runs for the duration of the week.
