This result puts The Shannonsiders into the First Division play-offs against Cobh Ramblers with the first leg of that tie to be played on Friday, October 24 at the Markets Field. The second-leg will be played the following Tuesday, October 28.
Speaking to Leader Sport, Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett was happy with the nature of his side's performance.
"I thought we controlled the game, in and out of possession. It was one of those games where I just felt we were comfortable throughout and we did a good, professional job up there. We were delighted to get the win.
They had a chance early on but after that we were comfortable, their next chance after that was a corner in the 45th minute and I thought we dominated to be honest without creating a massive amount of chances but we definitely had control of the game throughout," he said.
"They scored a goal in the last minute but it was well offside. Other than that I don't think Corey (Chambers) had much to do other than one half chance of a shot just before half time."
The Treaty boss was also pleased with the defensive solidity and composure that his side showed in what easily could have been a tricky fixture given the circumstances surrounding it.
"It all starts with the players at the front and in midfield, the boys higher up the pitch kept them (Wexford) away from the goal, it was a good mid-block.
The boys in midfield did their jobs defensively and the two wide put a good, solid foundation in and then we could play it forward to Lee J Lynch in good spaces."
Treaty's attacking exploits on the night was something that pleased their manager, with Patrick Ferry and Mark Byrne notching the crucial goals.
"They were two good goals. Patrick has scored five for us now since coming in which is a good return and Mark has a handful of goals as well so it's great for them, great for their confidence and they were two really good goals with really good attacking play and build-up. We were delighted with the performance all around."
Barrett is looking forward to a two-legged with Munster rivals Cobh Ramblers, that first leg at the Markets Field next week.
Treaty have shown they can compete with Cobh when the Garryowen-based side ran out 2-1 winners when the sides met at the markets Field earlier in the season.
"We've nothing to fear, we go into it knowing that they are a good side obviously, we know that they will be a tough challenge over two legs.
They're the second best team in the division so we know that we will be up against it but we certainly have nothing to fear, that's the attitude we will be going into it with," he said.
