THE League of Ireland season may be coming to an end but it is a very busy time for some of Treaty United's players.
On Monday, Madison McGuane and Aibhlinn Cotter left for Spain to compete in the UEFA
Women's Under 17 Championship Euro Qualifiers where they play Spain, Austria and Denmark.
Treaty United's Senior Mens Team Assistant Coach, Dave Rooney, is Goalkeeping Coach with the squad in Spain.
Women’s U17 player, Madison was also recently nominated for 2 Irish international awards, U15 and U16 international player of the year for 2024. This is an incredible achievement to get nominated for player of the year in two age groups in the one cycle. There are a total of 3 nominees for each of the awards and we wish Madison the very best when the
announcements are made later this week.
Women’s Senior player, Katie Lawlee was also nominated for the international U17 player of the year and she captained the Irish side last year. Again, Katie is just one of three nominees for the award and she'll be hoping to add it to her Treaty United Senior Women’s Player of the Year Award.
Treaty United CEO, Ciara McCormack said the club was very proud of the girls’ achievements: “The club are extremely proud of the work that the players and coaches are putting in that is leading to the recognition that Madison and Katie have been given, being named the top 3 of players in the country at their age, and for Madison and Aibhlinn to be representing Ireland
at an important competition in Spain.
"Even more importantly to us, all 3 are wonderful people and role models to everyone in the club. We’re looking forward to continuing to support their journey and cheer on their success, now and undoubtedly into the future.”
Treaty United Senior Women’s Manager and former WU17 manager Sean Russell added: "Having seen how hard these players work every week, it is great to see both Madison and Katie getting the recognition at such a prestigious level. They are fantastic role models for all the players in our club."
