TREATY United Women’s Head Coach Dominic Foley was disappointed following his side's last-gasp 2-1 defeat at home to Wexford in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division on Saturday evening.

Treaty had conceded a frustrating opening goal following a series of defensive errors before restring parity from the penalty spot. However, Wexford midfielder Ellen Molloy struck for a dramatic winner with effectively the last kick of the game in the 94th minute of the contest.

“It’s just cruel. I thought we played well, but we conceded that early goal that was easily avoidable and was against the run of play,” said Foley afterwards.

“We deservedly got back into the game and then we had chances to win it, but it’s just the cruellest of misfortune that they
went down and scored a fantastic goal.”

“I don’t think that there’s a person here today who wouldn’t think that we didn’t deserve to get something from that game, at the very minimum we should have gotten a draw out of it,” he said.

The Shannonsiders remain towards the bottom half of the table having suffered their eighth defeat in eleven on Saturday with Treaty United's attention now turning to the Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup First Round tie next Saturday when they will welcome Ferns United to the Markets Field, 5pm.

“We know that they’ll be coming here with nothing to lose so it will be a very tough game for us,” said Foley.

“From my experience in games like these, you have to win the battle and win the fight and then hopefully your quality will shine through after that.”

“We’re really excited about it, it will be a good game where we’ll be hoping to get a good home win on the board but we won’t be taking anything for granted,” he said.
