Boost for Treaty United as fans' favourite re-signs for 2023 season

Willie Armshaw of Treaty United

TREATY United has been handed a boost ahead of the 2023 SSE Airtricity League First Division season with confirmation that Willie Armshaw has re-signed for the new campaign.

The exciting Armshaw enters his third season of senior football having joined the club from St Michael’s in early 2021 to form part of the club's original 26-man League of Ireland squad.

A native of Cappawhite, Armshaw's mazy runs and spectacular goals off the bench in his first season saw him quickly become a fan favourite, but it was his body of work in 2022 that saw him move from an impact-sub to starting player.

With seven goals and two assists across 53 appearances, Armshaw looks set for his biggest year yet for Treaty United in the 2023 Men’s First Division.

Meanwhile, Treaty United has confirmed that the highly-rated Josh Quinlivan and Scott Kirkland have signed first-team deals for the 2023 Men’s First Division season.

The duo become the first academy players to graduate to the Senior Men’s side having concluded their time in the underage ranks.

Josh Quinlivan is a striker who joined the academy upon its formation. A former Pike Rovers schoolboy, Josh racked up 12 goals and 7 assists while playing at under-19 level.

Quinlivan was first included in a senior matchday squad in July 2021 and made his debut away to Cabinteely on October 29th where he scored his first senior goal off the bench. 2022 saw him make three appearances off the bench along with featuring in the matchday squad a further nine times.

Quinlivan was delighted to have made the jump from the academy to the first-team when he spoke to the Treaty United media team: “I’m delighted to be signing for the Treaty United senior team after coming through the academy. After getting a few chances last year I’m looking forward to getting more this year in front of the fans and trying my best to become an important player for Treaty in the future.”

Similarly, Scott Kirkland made the move to the Treaty United academy in 2021 and was a member of the under-19 team. Formerly of Bridge United, Scott notched nine goals over two seasons of under-19 football.

Kirkland was included in a matchday squad for the first time in March of 2022 and made his first-team debut in May where he started in a Munster Senior Cup semi-final at home to Cork City. He was introduced as a substitute in a First Division game against the same opposition one month later whilst also featuring in 14 additional matchday squads.

Kirkland was thrilled about being signed up for 2023 when we caught up with him: “I’m delighted to be signed! Looking forward to the season ahead.”

Treaty United 2023 Season Tickets are now available for members and non-members.
